A park with a personal history in the background

Aflopark was created on private land owned by the Furman family. In total, it covers an area of almost 8 hectares, making it the largest private garden made available to visitors in this part of Poland. Why exactly there?

‘This is the place of my childhood,’ says Andrzej Furman, the initiator and owner of Aflopark. I was born in the house that now serves as the park’s restaurant. This is where I grew up, this is where my first childhood memories come from. The windows of our house overlooked the garden run by Mrs Helena Wdowiak. There were fruit trees, fertile apple trees and also… a field of sugar beet. I remember peeping at them through the fence. Aflopark is an evocation of the memories of that period, a dream fulfilled of returning to nature in a more modern version.’

Work on the garden began in 2019. At that time, all the plants were looked after by the landscape architect, Lukasz Tarapacz, who had several years of experience as a gardener for the family, but also for the companies Aflofarm and Aflopa, which belonged to the family.

A smaller (0.8 ha) part of the garden is located on the Ksawerow side. In it, one can admire flowers from groups of lilacs, clematis and roses. It is roses that dominate this part of the park – there are more than 158 varieties here, with a total of almost 3,500 planted in 12 beds. The second part of the Aflopark (over 4 ha) is located just opposite, but already on the Pabianice side. In addition to the rich plantings, it will feature a pond, herb boxes, a concert arbour and a ravine.

A special surprise awaits lovers of direct contact with nature – they can explore the park barefoot in complete safety – the perfect lawn encourages this.
